I was looking forward to my trip on the Queen Mary to Cherbourg. Ship was clean and impressive.
Without being asked, I was "upgraded" from a nice cabin with porthole to inside cabin No 9018. Unfortunately surrounded by powerful forced air plant machinery. I was really polite but offered to pay extra to move to a quieter cabin, and this is where the whole Cunard Experience fell on its face. Pursurs staff seemed all detached, I thought unsympathetic, wouldn't even come to check.
I got on... and after an hour of "loud white noise" in a windowless box... got off again. I will never go on the ship again.
