My experience with Current and Holding accounts has been generally positive because HSBC have a good secure web interface that works 99% of the time. Other than sales staff I have little need to speak with staff other than on Credt Card issues.
The Web interface has limited use on Credit Cards. This means that with Credit Card problems one has the nightmare problem of dealing with an Indian(??) call centre with staff whose first language is definitely not English. In addition the quality of their telephone lines is pathetic.
One cannot always expect that in a commercial relationship that there will never be a problem. However I believe that the "Good" guys are the ones that one can communicate with and who are prepared to fix the problem sooner rather than later. HSBC used to be in the "Good" guys camp but as they shift more of their business out East, the quality of communication diminishes. Unless a miracle happens I shall be moving my business elsewhere.
