The handling is superb, the performance of the beefy V-twin is brilliand and the economy is blinding. 52 UK MPG - find me a jap bike that can do that, one that isn't sinfully boring.
Having to step into a Harley Dealership and feel like a second class citizen. Some quality control issues.
I've had the Buell Lightning XB12SS for about 2 years now and have used it mainly for commuting and weekend grins. Overall, the Buell has proved very reliable but I am now looking at a number of minor warranty claims for things like belt tensioner barings and some crappy paintwork on the tail section. Now, chances are, if you dont ride it year round, you just wont encounter these issues. In which case, buy one. They are an utter hoot. Change the exhaust as soon as you can, because they sound and go about 1000 times better. If you like the look and like a v-twin, you'll love it. If you still really crave that screeming 600 jap 4, then forget it. You'll probably hate it. If you are interested, join one of the Buell user groups, they're very supportive and full of handy hints. Like, never buy Buell brake pads, they cost £60. Buy pads from Braking Wave, they cost £16. Much more like it. Laslty, I'd just like to say, the Buell is brilliant and looks that mutt's nuts.
