Friendly staff.
Accommodation, location, facilities.
On arriving at the park we had to wait to receive the keys as the reception also doubles as the club bar, After serving several pints of Lager the staff were finally able to deal with us and we made our way to the Chalet. We had booked a silver standard chalet for the price of £380 pounds for a week and with it being out of season we expected a reasonable standard - wrong!
The chalets appear to have been built in the late sixties or early seventies and remind me of the pre-fabricated concrete style. At some time between then and now the walls have been clad with wood to give them a cabin type appearance but the single glazed rotten frame windows give the game away. Inside is dated, the decor and furniture are straight from the seventies and the facilities are not as good as I would have liked.
The bathroom was small, with a bath that is about half the size of our bath at home. The bath is supplied with a hot water tank and immersion heater.
Outside the chalets are set within a forest/wood with grassed areas and paths between the chalets. I can imagine that when the site was set up, that the location was very pleasant. However after 40 years the canopy of trees and all the foliage create a rainforest type effect which the sunlight cannot breakthrough even on the sunniest days. This creates a very dank and depressing environment.
We have stayed in chalets before but have never ever encountered standards this poor before and can find nothing to recommend about the site.
My personal feeling is that the chalets need to be renovated to make them more appealing.
