Animal habitats, toilets, tidiness, well kept gardens
Puddles formed on some paths.
This was our first visit to the Cotswold Wildlife Park and what a treat it was. The most important thing was that all the animals looked happy and healthy and were kept in appropriate environments, eg. the timber wolves were kept in an enclosure with plenty of trees, and because they are timid were viewed from an overhead walkway which was not intrusive. The zebras and Rhino were allowed to wander over a large grassed area, and were contained by a ditch and low wire fence, so visitors have an unobstructed view and are not kept back by barriers, this is great for photographers. I was pleased to see that there were plenty of seats and picnic areas scattered throughout the park, this is important to those of us less agile as we were able to take frequent rests. There are also several toilet blocks, which were clean and tidy, and enough litter bins about to avoid having to carry rubbish about with you whilst searching for a place to deposit it. The formal gardens were lovely but there were also many areas planted with flowers, shrubs and trees which were not only pleasing to look at but contained many plants which were unusual and not often seen, eg one area contained nothing but grasses of all different kinds, which was not only pretty to look at but also very interesting. I was delighted to see an old oak tree which is reputed to be over 600 years old. It was truly magnificent and I took many photographs of it. Overall I loved this park and will definitely visit it again, well worth the entry fee of £10.
