The silver apartments accommodation. Was clean and had everything we could want (and no more curtains forever falling down). It was remarkably quiet from next door and above also.
I found some mould on 2 bread rolls, I complained and we were offered to eat in the yacht club with only has to cater for 300 and not 3000 and a bottle of wine. I was happy with that. If I go again I will make sure we eat in the yacht club though.
I find it very off putting that when I ask for information someone looks at me with an expression of 'sorry I don't understand' and then in a foreign accent asks me again what I said! This happens often at Butlins now. Three times I asked for half of Carling at different bars and was brought a pint.
In 1989 - rollerskating, the cinema, trampolining, the skyhigh railway, boating on the lake - all this was free.
Now you pay for most of the entertainment during the daytime and this year there were more gambling machines than ever as these now fill part of the skyline arena.
In 1989 - there were two big venues open at night to entertain families. now there is only one for families and the other - reds - is more for older entertainment,
It all became very boring very quickly.
I think this was our final year.
