Extremely exceptional longevity. I have done 500,000 kms in this car, on one engine and auto gearbox. I still get excellent fuel economy. There is plenty of space in the car dispite it being a hatch.
Not a car to try and drag someone off with from the lights, because there is no breathtaking power at all. It has a bit of go when the revs get higher and the twin cams can get into their own (still not saying that it is blessed with power at all.
For such a simple car, one could not fault its willingness to keep going, and going. I had a full mechanical inspection on it a month ago, and I was told that the compression was still good in all cylinders, there were no obvious oil leaks, and overall the car was givin a clean bill of health (except for one CV).
The only problem that I have found with the car is that the steering gets very heavy as the tyres wear out. It is a great reminder to keep newish tyres under you.
