Once tuned, highly accurate
Powerful
Best pellet rifle for the money spent!
LOUD
takes some time to work the bugs out
cocking is not for the weak with this rifle
poor factory mounts and optics
I've owned mine for a few years now and I must say that this pellet rifle needs a bit of time to get used to.
IF YOU ARE A FIRST TIME PELLET RIFLE OWNER/SHOOTER this rifle is not for you.
-you cannot handle this the same way that you would a normal rifle.
-the recoil characteristics make this an unusually hard rifle to learn the mechanics of(accuracy)
-the factory optics and mounts are GARBAGE. the powerful recoil usually destroys them within a few 100 pellets.
-Newer, slimline synthetic stocks make this rifle TWICE as loud in the shooters ear as the stocks from 4 years ago.
-respectable, adjustable factory sights
-VERY powerful, mine chrony'd at an average of 986fps with a standard 7.9 gr pellet
-Daisy has solved the trigger problems that plagued the early models(like mine-12lbs of pull for the first 2000 shots)
the norm should be 3.5 approx
-Breaking in a springer TAKES ALOT OF TIME. these rifles are QUIRKY. all things considered. if you bought this at Wal-mart like me, get used to some initial frustration.
run 5 or 8 tins of pellets through it at a reasonable pace(no to get it too hot or stress the spring). All trigger components will mesh together over time and combine to give you a smooth pull.
All this being said, I feel that I have done nothing in this review to honor my 9/10 rating. I have spent a lot of time and effort breaking this rifle in and becoming used to its' quirks.
Those who bash this weapon want a Walmart rifle that shoots BULLSEYES from the box at 50 yds. that is unreasonable for any weapon.
The major drawback to this rifle is not the inadequacy or break in time, however the NOISE FACTOR.
it is astonishing how LOUD this rifle is. It is all spring noise, too(with some coming from the hollow synthetic stock now too).
-Choose ammo wisely. GAMO raptor pellets (ahem) make this rifle sound like a .22 lr rifle because, when fired, they break the sound barrier!
-Chose EXTRA-HEAVY pellets like the Beeman silver arrow (11.5 gr) for good knock-down and easy kills.
Not for targets though, unless you want to spend a lot of money.
-also remember the basic rule-WHEN YOU CHANGE AMMO OR TYPE, YOU WILL NEED TO RE-SIGHT THE RIFLE!
The benefits of this rifle clearly outweight it's drawback and, for my money and my lifetime of shooting REAL rifles, this is DARN close to the real thing.
