Sturdy and stable. Good design and construction. Good choices of materials. Good casting's and machining. Good finishes.
Milled square, one piece, aluminium fence and table. Uses negative rake TCT blades to prevent kickback and produce smoother cuts. 4m power cable. Saw fits on the DE7023 saw bench (recommended) with DE7025 bench mounts, or, also accepts the DE3493 leg-stand directly. Good dust extraction keeps the saw and work space relatively free of dust even when not using an extractor. The blade guards are made of thick aluminium (makes me feel safer). Spindle lock for easy blade changes. Includes double sized Allen key that stores with tool. Safety release on trigger. Cuts lovely!
On aluminium base; the bolt mounting holes needed over-sizing with a drill to accept the bolts provided with the bench mounts DE7025.
The DeWalt DW707 is a brilliant Compound Mitre Saw!
This saw has seen many incarnations and has been largely patterned on the much successful DW700. Even this DW707 has now been superseded, initially by the DW707-GB, which didn't seem to benefit from some of Dewalt's "improvements" and now, by the DW777, which brings back a lot of the refinements from the DW707 as well as a more powerful motor.
Upon receiving my DW707 saw; I checked it for squareness on both mitre angles and found it was running out a bit on both. Adjustment is easy and detailed well in the manual. After calibrating it, with a square, it has not altered after a years use.
Cuts are fine, easy and smooth. The main mitre adjustment is also; easy to use, set and accurate. The secondary mitre adjustment, for compound mitres, is, again, simple to adjust, leaving the hard part; what compound mitre do you actually want? To a large degree the saw will probably see a lot of straight cross cuts too, which, it sails through. I find I never have to wait for this saw as it's always ready to do its job really well.
I can see this saw staying with me for a long time - I look after it well because it looks after me well - Great value for money.
This great all-rounder saw is well suited for; general DIY, professional picture framers and on site, for 2nd fix work (skirting's, architraves etc.). A Saw of saws'!
Well done Dewalt!
