We stayed in the silver half board accommodation, from the 4th to the 7th July for a family entertainment weekend. When we arrived they let us check in early but we couldn't get into our room till 4pm which was not a problem as we went straight to the beach which is signposted opposite the spa. Plenty to do for everyone. The food is not bad lots of choice, so we had a bit of everything as finding something for our young son was not easy, unless you give them chips all the time, the pasta dishes were good we all really enjoyed them. Chicken tikka was really nice and spicy. Good selection of salads which were very fresh. If you want fruit for the children you have to ask for it as they don't display it on the counters. You have a choice of apple or orange.
Breakfast there is full English, cereal, or grapefruit. For dinner the jacket spuds were a bit dry, unless you use loads of butter and have a second topping.
Only bad thing I can think of is that in bob the builders yard I was not allowed to accompany my son on the tea cup ride. The guy told me that if I wanted to let him go on he would have to sit with another child. Yeah right only a strap across the belly holding him in, well he decided he didn't like it and screamed. Very disappointed with that. These were the only things he was able to go on.
The outdoor play area at one of the pubs clearly states no smoking or alcohol /glasses in the children's play area, yet some parents thought it would be fine for them to sit and drink beer while in the play area sorry but I was not amused; it just takes one slip and a child could be sliced by inconsiderate idiots who rather drink alcohol than watch their children.
At Butlins, Skegness The rooms are clean, we were right on the front in dolphin court section which is behind the check in area so very close to the amenities. So not far to walk from the car park. Overall the place is clean and tidy no long waits for breakfasts or tea.
I would say that Butlins is clean and tidy, plenty for all the family, yeah there are things that need to be done like the swimming pool area where there is lots of mould on the tiles inside the cave - people have been pulling bits off the walls so you can see all the dirt thats behind the wall. Will we be going back yes but gonna wait till our son is over 1m tall so he can go on all the rides, as 90% of the rides is that hight.
It was a bit noisy on a night but I think that was because we were on the front so everyone had to pass that way to get to the shows. The walls were very thin just home from home for us. So you can hear everything that goes on in the next room...
Prices are a bit above the normal, Burger King is motorway prices, never tried anything else in Butlins, we went into Skeggy one day and had lunch out yeah KFC.
Loads of tattoo shops, fish and chip shops just the general seaside town activities.
Pop into Skeggy for the day a bus runs past Butlins; it's worth a visit loads to do there. Hope this helps a bit, as reviews I had read before I went worried me but we had a great time.
