Fabulous "looker", cheap to buy, cheap to run, cheap to insure, totally practical, great to drive, great performance, superb build quality, minimal depreciation.
A bit thirsty these days, but 30mpg from a 2.5Litre V6 isn't bad. Can be difficult to park - the rear view is badly restricted and it's a big car. Be prepared for rear bumper damage - I've got a spare now!
I've had the Ford Cougar for 18 months and joining the Cougar Owners Club has given acess to everything that you could possibly want to know to keep the car in tip top condition. I've a minor "glitch" where the speedo needle "wanders around the dial" from time to time but otherwise this is the best car that I've owned for many years. Mines done 75K miles on a T plate. I'm looking for a younger one with a Sun Roof and Rear Parking Sensors.
