“Bought this Mountfield mower 8 months ago from B&Q....”

Good Points
Seemed to work well. Started easily and overall I thought this was a good mower, however!

Bad Points
Cutting height kept self-adjusting to lowest level. Front of mower too low even when not at lowest cut and kept snagging on bumps in lawn. Grass box didn't fit properly and always left a gap at top.

General Comments
Bought this Mountfield mower 8 months ago from B&Q. Had problems with the cutting height dropping down to lowest level after going over a bump. Today it did the same thing when I was going over a concrete inspection cover set into my lawn. The blade 'snicked' the edge of the cover causing the engine to stop. Couldn't start the engine, couldn't even pull the starting cord. I dismantled the engine to find that the main shaft that goes through the engine to the blade was bent beyond repair. The engine is a write-off. Should have replaced it with a Honda, my last one lasted 13 years.
