The UT finish looks great; tames 3" loads to feel about like a normal heavy load. Wonderful walnut stock that is able to be adjusted. Very tight wood to metal fit. The action has been very, very rugged.
The checkering looks very non traditional - almost a basket weave look. Follow up shots could be faster. All the chokes are on the tight side - will have to buy something for skeet / steel.
I bought this to replace my Winchester 1300 for field use. It has been wonderful for sporting clays, but I have not taken it out for waterfowl or upland hunting yet.
Patterns are perfect for lead - steel shot seems to need a more open choke than is included with the shotgun. Non toxic shot seems to group better with a more open choke - no idea why. There have been no feeding problems or misfires.
The action should hold up better in adverse conditions than the similar Browning autoloaders. The new UT coating looks both good and tough. Only twenty years will be able to tell how much better it will be.
The stock is of a nice grade of walnut. Metal to wood fit is almost as good as a custom shotgun. The checkering is a love / hate thing. As a bonus, it field strips excellent
Overall, I feel that you are getting a wonderful shotgun. It does everything that you can ask, and it does it flawlessly every time. Outdoor Life rated this the best shotgun of 2006. As long as you are able to stand the checkering, you will love this shotgun.
