Good Points
Simple, robust construction using the quality materials and engineering ethos of Rover cars. Will last a lifetime if looked after with reasonable care.
Bad Points
Fuel costs on petrol models if used for high mileages. The oldest ones have had 50 years of bodging and abuse by now and many are tired and worn out.
Neglected examples usually noisy, rough and rusty.
General Comments
The series 2 Land Rover. Quite unlike any other vehicle, ancient or modern. Provided you can live with their limitations (absolutely no creature comforts and slow by modern standards) there is nothing that can equal them for sheer practicality, ease of maintenance, low depreciation, and most of all fun ownership. Everyone should own one of these machines at least once in their life.
