Good Points

They are very well balanced on the cross frequencies, they look awesome, they are comfortable, they have pretty good isolation, and at a reasonable price.

Bad Points

THEY are fragile on the joints...

General Comments

To whom my concern:
I bought the Sony MDR-V700 headphones along with the down version the v500 for the ipod, 3 years ago and my first thought, it was very good ...

I've seen people complaining about for the price and their durability but.. it all depends what are you going to use them for.. they are targeted as a dj/mixing usage, and i don't understand why, people get them to play videogames or to use them on the subway/ bus, if you want to get isolation on public areas, then i would suggest get a noise cancelling headphones.
In fact they are the best so far that i have used, and this is based comparing the pioneer hdj1000 and the technics rp 1200, which all this brands are top leading the market for the average dj /consumer, in the end "you get what you paid for", and if you really want some headphones for lasting long terms, in that case get the Senheiser or Allen & Health brand, which of course they are more expensive but sure they will last you forever.
At some point they will brake but i understand why, and this is what most people do not think of, but think of it in this way, if they make the model with metal instead of plastic, how much would they weight?, and how many dj's will end up with their heads with some injuries... so at the end of the day the average "standard" heaphones will break and you have to deal to get a pair of these every 2 years more or less.... but i am positive to this situation cause the quality sound for the price is worth it....

Would i recommend them? of course i would, and my suggestion would be, do not lend them, do not fold them unless it is need it, and once in a while check the joints and the screws, that's what i've been doing and they are still up and running for 3 years without a scratch.

i hope i've been for help
