Cheap price (if you're lucky, that is).
Did not provide full insurance coverage and I had to sign a £500 safety fee meaning they will take £500 should any damage occur to the vehicle (note. this includes scratches on the windscreen and/or tires).
I will never use this company again and I would not recommend them. I feel I experienced terrible customer service and I thought the money saved on the cheap initial price was not worth the payments I had to make upon returning the vehicle.
I returned my car after a 4 day rental only to discover that I had to shell out an extra £500 on the spot to pay for a scratch on the windscreen which was caused by a small rock. Now, they told me that this money would be returned after they use a fraction of it to pay for the damages incurred; however 5 weeks later I still have yet to receive anything even though they said it would take 2 weeks (4 at most!) to inform me of my 'extra' bill. I realize that you should always look into the insurance plan offered upon renting a vehicle, but the fact remains that I would simply rather pay £30 more to a company such as Thrifty to have the full insurance coverage. Also, the staff at the 1 Car 1 office seemed to have a problem in relaying and emphasizing this little extra nugget of information. I wasn't the only customer surprised by this insurance policy.
I have now been waiting 5 weeks to hear anything regarding an update as to the status of the car I rented. I have rang on more than one occasion only to hear that nobody seems to know what is happening. The local branch appears to have chosen to dissociate itself with my predicament.
In the end, it would appear that a 4 day car rental from a 'cheap' company has cost me £575 to date. I know the cost of the repair work needed on the windscreen as well (about £40). Hopefully, IF they return the remainder of my £500, I can only assume that they will have taken around £100 of it, thus costing me around £175 for the entire rental - almost double the cost of the most expensive competitor. Now that's a deal, 1 Car 1!
Never never never again. I think this is the most unprofessional company I have ever used.
