Cheap (compared to charter airlines), friendly staff
old fleet (makes you keep your seat belt on!!!)
Newcastle - Mahon - Newcastle
Overall not a bad experience, going out was hassle free, used baggage drop but wasn't any quicker, because everyone else did. Waiting in the departure lounge for the gate number to appear, half our family left for the boarding gate, only to be told at last minute we had an hour delay (we could all see there wasn't a jet2 aircraft there, but they still didn't make announcement until last minute). we received an apology and boarded swiftly. the aircraft was showing its age; one of our seats kept reclining randomly! It was clean but old. the seat pitch wasn't very generous and the seats where basic with strait flat backs. we didn't try the food but hot drinks were good, pilot and cabin crew were efficient and polite, we made up some time. Mahon airport is superb (in middle of modernisation) and the cases beat us there!.
Return flight was a let down due to the check-in at mahon, opened late but to be fair they where quick, mahon departure lounge and passport control was great! we departed ontime give or take five minutes, similar storey to outbound but with a few factors that showed the aircraft age, the gaps on the overhead lockers were leaking with condensation, leaving some unlucky few wet but the crew apologized and helped in anyway possible, it was the same aircraft but thankful the seat had been fixed (thumbs up for maintenance!), a member of the cabin crew even offered me her seat whilst waiting for the trolley to pass down the isle, little touches made the difference. Ground staff at Newcastle where once again on time and cases beat us there.
Would recommend Jet2 but, they are low cost so don't expect BA standards!, perfect for cheap flights to the sun! (more than half the price of Thomas cook!)
