It's a little large for portability.
It has a better ergonomic design and is easier to use than a normal mouse. It is ideal for laptops and does not need a flat surface. Some versions freeze and require the mouse ball be lifted from the sensor (tuning the mouse upside works) to "unfreeze" it. Logitech provides free replacement if still under warranty.
