Good Points

Easy to ride, very comfortable, nice and low, plenty of power to keep me happy (and safe) cheap to run and maintain (if you don't buy from Harley). So many accessories to choose from. The sound is unique and very likeable.

Bad Points

Everything's in imperial tool sizes! Can shake when cold. A tube of threadlock is handy. Struggles to power unless stage 1 done. Could do with double brake disks on front to aid stopping.

General Comments

I got this Harley Davidson Sportster after a swap for a full power VMAX on a well known internet auction site. The Max was too heavy, with very limited fuel range and a nasty habbit of eating back tyres in next to no time. My first ride on the XL883 was an interesting experience. It took me a while to re adjust the mirrors as they had been set for self viewage, instead of road safety. I was quite suprised at how easy the sportster was to get along with from the ride height to the overall comfort of the ride position. The overall performance was a bit dissapointing following my previous bike, but £100 pounds later and a new exhaust with air filter and jet, the bike came alive and didn't feel like an asmatic teenager. The work to be done on it was very easy to the not so technically minded, like myself. And the increase in power output put a smile on my face very quickly. I have had the bike for over a year now and done more than enough mileage to convince me that it was the best choice of bike for my current needs. You don't have to have a tassle fetish to ride one of these, it's up to the individual if ya wanna subscribe to the Harley brigade, or just ride it for pleasure. The XL883 is in my view a good all rounder, that is serving me well in all weathers. Hope this helps.
