Good Points

The best points are the family make you feel like a member and not a guest, the crack and laughter by the poolside bar as well as the free sambukas at breakfast are welcome. The food is English and the breakfasts for 4 euros fill you up for the day, drinks are good and reasonably priced, all types are available, the hotel is 5 minutes from the top of the beach road where the action starts and on the way home there is a pizza/ fast food place 100 metres from the hotel. There is also a mini market 20 metres from the hotel. The beach is 20 minutes walk away turning left outside the hotel and the best beach is the sun beach which offers free entrance and they charge for the sunbeds, but you get excellent bar and food and fresh water pool, and spotless toilets, the beach is great with waves and plenty happening, back at the hotel it has two pools, one is a small original plunge pool and has sunbeds and is a bit quieter then the new pool built in 2004, which has a grassed area with more sunbeds than members/guests, so no need to reserve your bed.

Bad Points

Rooms are basic and no air con, but you can hire a fan which keeps it cool, showers are the ones you hold with your hand but hey this is Greece and you are here to party and not stay in your room, cant believe the other comments about towels and sheets, the rooms are cleaned every day and linen and towels changed every third day.

General Comments

Having been to the Elen hotel 13 times now with mates, girlfriend. The place is fab for meeting people 9even at 47) still get chatted up, there is a famous road called the beach road which has the most amazing choice of nightlife from foam parties to r&b clubs to rave and trance and a good selection of disco pubs which are the busiest ones due to people recognising the music that is played. The strip is buzzing from about 11 pm to 6 am and is the best nightlife I have experienced in my travels and I have been to every major resort in the med. Club 18-30 yes, but has club 30-60 as well for us older people, don't let that put you off as pub discos like flares cheekies and reflex all play 70's and 80's music, I suggest you start your night at the bottom of the beach road at the Electra bar, it is a bamboo covered bar with the bar staff are just nuts and that is underestimating them, the best places for food are the hotel for breakfast and omlettes, but if you fancy an excellent choice then the red lion 3/4 of the way down the strip is the best for an excellent choice of dishes, try the soup, yes the soup, you get about two tins in a plate then if you are a hungry go for the mixed grill, the red lion gets busy about 5pm to 8pm with people coming off the main beach and heading home stopping for food, so be warned you may find your self waiting for a table, even though it seats 200+, I normally hire a jeep and have toured the island, the water park is great, when you arrive you are given a wrist band and hire a locker to put you valuables in, then you can roam free and eat and drink then pay your bill when you leave as everything is charged to the barcode on your wristband, best days to go are Tuesdays, but avoid the weekends as the locals go their. If you are a regular at the Elen then lots of people go there around the august bank holiday weekend for a week and many reunions take place then with so many people turning up, it is a great place to rest during the day and party at night time, the hotel bar is situated in between the two pools and everyone meets there about 10pm before heading to the beach road about 11pm, like I say I have been 13 times to the Elen and i'm trying to get there again on or around the 26th aug2008 for another reunion, a tip for you is don't book the broucher, book a separate flight and phone to book a room, it works out cheaper, the taxi is about 45 euros each way but is cheaper if you are sharing, split the cost and it is only 25 mins in the taxi compared to the bus which drops everyone else off first. It lists the pubs clubs and what is happening. Have fun and hopefully see you at the Elen.

Why can't you go to this hotel with partner/spouse? Surely your girlfriend is technically a partner?
