Staff were fairly friendly and helpful. The setting is brilliant and looks fantastic, although i did find eating chinese food in the setting of a church was some what off putting and disrespectful to any religion. I say this even though i am not practicing catholic or very religious.
I thought the food was terrible, bland, over cooked and odd tastes for typical orential dishes.
Simple sauces such as a popular curry sauce tasted tainted with a thai curry taste? (*note i do like thai curry) No idea why i asked if i was eating the right sauce and as i thought it was what the label said.
Also the duck and pancakes were at an extra cost of 1 pound per person, of course this isn't unreasonable but the duck was by no means nice. Dry hard and over cooked. The cucumber and spring onion looked like they had been sitting there for a good while. Not what I expect when I pay extra money for something that seems to be standard at any chinese buffet.
I like the idea of eclectic dining and restaurants in unusual locations but this buffet was in a church with micheal jacksons 'bad' playing in the background, whilst takeshi's castle played on widescreen tv's around the restaurant. Not my idea of fun.
Overall I'd say this is one of the worst buffets I've been to. easily the worst out of the oriental style buffets I've been to in derby. Food was terrible, service was fine but how much service do you expect from an all you can eat? all in all not somewhere i would return to. Price was reasonable at 23 pounds for two to dine. This was for all you can eat plus duck and two drinks.
Never felt the need to write a review of anywhere I've eaten before. Second place I've ever had a serious complaint about the standard of the food.
