Internet banking is very clear and comprehensive, customer service in branch and on the telephone is exemplarary, loads of options for savings accounts and savings advisors in branch to tell you how to ensure you get the best interest, no sales pressures, I'm often advised the best deal is online and told how to go home and set it up.
5% on the High Interest Current Account is only when paying in over £1000/month, paying a Halifax credit card bill still takes 3 days from a Halifax account.
I've banked with Natwest and HSBC previously. Both banks have given me disappointing customer service in branch, one constantly answering my questions with 'speak to telephone banking', another removing my authorised overdraft because I was always in credit. I moved my ISA initially to Halifax, but everything has followed. I now have 3 savings accounts, my current account and a credit card, which was offered to me with 15 months 0% interest on purchases, 12 months 0% interest on balance transfers because I'm a valued customer. The cynic I am, I went and checked the best offers for new customers, other existing customers, everything I could find, nothing with more than 6 months 0% on purchases. They really do value my custom. If people can't stay on top of their finances, they can't complain. It seems to me this site is full of people who expect something for nothing, can't accept responsibility for their own financial mismanagement. Halifax are, in my opinion, head and shoulders above HSBC and Natwest in terms of value, customer services and online facilities.
