Economical. Good handling. Reliable.
Expensive (but it is a Honda). No side stand.
Needed a scooter for work so I could save the Bandit 650 for weekends. After much research, opted for a brand new Honda SH125i (08). Had it now for two months. Always starts first time. I'm 18 stone and 6ft 1in. Plenty of leg room for me and tons of space to carry things, due to a massive top box thats comes with the bike. Most of my traveling is on A roads, so keeping around the 40mph mark will return 100mpg. Keep the throlle wide open and drive faster, then this falls to around 85mpg. It sits very happily at 50mph. Had mine up to 70mph on a short trip on the motorway, but i wouldnt recommend this bike for motorway use (get the 300i). There is a slight throlle lag on acceleration, but you get used to that. The bit that always catches me out with a twist and go is slowing down. You have to anticipate the road and the engine provides no slowing of the engine, let go of the throttle and this bike coasts for ages. I don't know if this will be a problem with brake wear in the future? Saying that, the coasting helps with MPG. The underseat storage is quite small, but good enough for my wet weather gear storage. The rear wheel comes with a hugger as standard and copes excellently with helping keep the bike clean. If you are thinking of going for the PS125i, don't. Spend the extra £200 and get the SH125i. The larger wheels cope better with the road. You may pay extra for the name 'Honda'. Just remember why? They are built to last and are very reliable. Hope this helps you out.
