Bad Points

Suspension struggles with my 15 stone frame, but probably more my bad point than the bikes!

General Comments

I'm back into biking aged 45 after an 11 year gap. Forced into it really due to the price of fuel - car does 33mpg, bike does almost 80mpg, and it fairly irritates to pay so much to Mr Brown for a daily journey that is no fun at all. So for commuting (12 miles, mostly in town or country lanes), it's great. Much more fun than any car, get to work with a smile on your face.
The bike responds well to the throttle and is just so easy to use, just twist 'n' go. The brakes are excellent.
I bought mine (a '52 reg) with just 3500 miles on the clock, an insurance class C write off (been down the road, every panel damaged, but just cosmetic and you'd need to get close up to see it).
It's cost me around £1100 to get it on the road ( £750 for the bike) - needed to buy all the gear again, insurance, did my own servicing - oil change, brake fluid, put on a top box.
I'm delighted with the bike, for every 1000 miles I do on it (around two months commuting), I save £100, so it'll pay for itself within a couple of years . Tax is £15/year. Insurance for me £66.
It keeps up with traffic fine, you can even get to the front of queues and get away from lights before Mondeo man. Also fine on Motorways, but don't expect to leave that first lane. Top speed is around 60mph with me sat on top, but can cruise happily in the mid-50's.
It's a great way to get into work and do the "green" thing at the same time, leave the 4x4 behind and get one of these bikes, they're ideal.
