Good Points

economy: at a constant 70 it returns 62.2 mpg at a constant 55 it returns 68.9 mpg at a constant 30 it returnes 98.6 mpg, not that I do 30 for long periods. It does exactly 30 mph on tickover in 6th gear. It is also very comfortable. It handles better than most cars I have ever driven, and that's a lot. It starts first time everytime, which is excellent because it has completed 107,000 miles, It just went through its MOT and the emissions were perfect. It uses no oil. I drive the car sedately, but if I want some oomph, then it is there at the merest touch of the loud pedal. It is easy to park. I can get around 850-900 miles to a tank full of gurgle juice. The stereo system is not wonderful but adequate for an old tosspot like me. The brakes are sensational and stop the car as if my face is going to fall right off. At low speeds the brakes are light and easy to use without worrying about fade or snatching in the wet.

Bad Points

I have tried to use rational thought regarding bad points, the only one I can think of is that the back seats do not fold flat, but if I were asked to rate the car, then that would not be something to sway me away from all the good points. I would have liked an auto box but was unable to locate one. I would also have liked cruise, but same again.

General Comments

If you buy a bad Renault Laguna Sport Tourer, then that's tough luck. I bought a really good one from Marks Tay near Colchester for £4,500 over a year ago, it's black, pretty, rides firm to hard, but then again it is a sports version so I would expect that anyway. I can throw this thing around like it's got Araldite tyres. I defy anybody to try following me around the lanes in a Ford Focus without first-hand knowledge of ditch-life. Maybe my one has been re-mapped because it goes more like a very fast petrol lump if I choose to boot it. The security systems are excellent. I think that the card-key is a great idea, which must put off likely theives from trying to snaffle my only means of transport. All in all, this ride is exactly what I want. If I had the money to change to something else of quality, then I would go for a Honda S2000, which is an amazing piece of kit.
