Nice furniture at affordable prices.
Open until very late.
Great facilities.
Warehouse area where you collect furniture flat packed can be very confusing.
Queues usually very long with lots of empty, unmanned check outs.
Very expensive to transport items home.
Customer service very unorganized.
I am a great fan of Ikea furniture, it's cheap and easy to put together whilst still retaining quality. A lot of the furniture here is pretty simple and sturdy.
Shopping here in general is a nice experience, the branch I use is in Brent Park and it is open until 10pm. This branch has free childcare facilities for children aged 3 and upwards, it's a very well done, modern, state of the art looking place with ball pits, etc. There is also a restaurant providing Swedish meals at very affordable prices and on the way out next to the checkouts there is a fast food stand, where you can buy a hot dog and a drink for less than £1! Next to this you will also find a Swedish food shop.
I have however had a few bad experiences.
I went to Ikea to buy myself a futon sofabed, the item itself was pretty cheap and done its job, it cost approx £100 - I was not to pleased that it cost an excess of £50 on top to transport it home, which was literally round the corner, less than 1 mile away. I thought for that price, it would be delivered in a van and the driver would take it upstairs for me once I arrived home. All we got was an estate cabbie who just dropped me and my product off at the side of the road where my home is. £50 for a cab, I could have just used the cab service in neighbouring Tesco and asked for an estate where I would have paid a mere £4.
I have since then moved and live in South London, I am exactly 17 miles away from Ikea, Brent Park and not so long ago looked online to see what toddler beds they had for my 2 year old son. I saw one I wanted and phoned up to ask if they had it in stock, I was told they had, so with the use of a relatives van I went to purchase it, however it was NOT in stock. I then asked a worker to check when the product will be in stock again and was told the following Thursday, I went the following Thursday and got the bed. However there was no mattresses, I was told to ring up the next day to see if they were in. I went home with the bed frame only and rang up Ikea the next day to be told there was now mattresses for the bed in stock - I went there, suprise, suprise - there were none! I had to return a week later after two wasted trips to get my sons mattress.
