Amy Winehouse's album, Frank, is a colourful mixture of jazz and r'n'b. She combines her original lyrics with some strong modern beats, creating a diverse and varied album.
Some true Jazz lovers may not like the edge she has given her songs and some may think the songs are not varied enough.
"Frank" by Amy Winehouse has got to be one of the best albums from a UK newcomer. Amy has been nominated for two Brit awards this year, Best Female Solo and Best Urban Act. She is undoubtedly one of the UK's most talented new artists and her album proves this. The songs featured are her original work and the modern, hip hop beats add texture and tone to what can only be described as true, realistic lyrics about life. At only 19 she has proven to be unique and has shown true potential. Her voice is a combination of Macy Gray and Ella Fitzgerald and sounds way beyond her years. I am not a jazz lover but this album has enticed me into the world of dischord and jamming. It is a more commercial jazz album and not full of tuneless beats and rhythms. Best song has to be F**K me pumps, listen to the lyrics and you'll realise why. Website includes diary dates for forthcoming performances and details about Amy.
