I am a .NET developer and work with many different hosting companies. To be honest it's usually a case of "best of a bad bunch". 1and1.co.uk have, to date, been the worst for me! My main issue is support. Having spent 30 minutes on the phone with a support guy I ended up putting the phone down on him. It took the best part of 10 minutes for him to understand that all I wanted to do was to create a folder and upload a file to it (using C#). I am, as I type, now trying to rectify the issue over email and have gone through exactly the same experience again - I have had to practically spell it out to them I feel!
Their latest response had terms like "We will try to escalate this case..." and "...send you an email if we get a response...". Who knows what is going happen...
My advice - if they're the cheapest: pay more money and go somewhere else. You get what you pay for!
