Personally just experienced a 60 Minute makeover, now listen folks, very old style seventies house modernised for free with thousands of pounds worth of lovely and expensive goodies that you'd never be able to afford without a very happy loan company. The crew are very polite and friendly but there are a lot of regular local sub-contractors used has part of the team but all members seem willing to help in anyway.
Bad Points
Down side, yes poor painting and finishing quality on some fittings and decoration also can be very disruptive. Small parts belonging to electrical goods may be lost during makeover due to the rush to get things in. If you own an old house that needs updating i.e. re-plastering, new woodwork, rusty radiators then these issues can and will make the general finish look shabby. There is a limit to what can be done so some creative camera work is necessary.
General Comments
But all said they do actually complete the job in one hour, first they clear the house, and then the clock starts. After half hour they stop for an hour and half to let the paint dry, and then they finish off for the next half hour.
Yes, very rushed but you can fix the rubbish skirting boards and bad plaster walls that already exist in your house, a lot cheaper than buying all the furnishings you get from doing this, i.e. £600 on one single light fitting on average, so say no more.
Also all problems either incidental to appliance problems are willingly resolved afterwards by just making a phone call, same day fix even.
So if you like a high standard of decoration to the point of no need to touch then this is not the program for you, no one could do that in such a short time. If you like an acceptable decoration, perfect for encouraging you to pull your finger out and finish off what's been started with the added bonus of a great package of goodies then get writing up.
Please note, that they are sick of people writing in and saying, "I'd love a makeover because my husband's lovely but he works long hours", who's doesn't these days have you ever heard of weekends like the rest of us....
It took an unfortunate death in the family to try for this opportunity.
Outcome a lot less work to finish the house off, lots of beautiful furnishings and a happy mother inlaw. Job done....
