Good Points
Looks good, offered opportunity to let me mirror our back-ups so if one hard drive went out the other would still be good. It's small. We have four computers at home so our IT guy set it up, but he said it was easy.
Bad Points
If failed after 10 months! After describing the problem the Seagate / Maxtor CSR said, "Oh, Raid failure. Send it in. We'll send you a new one." Great. I asked about our data. He relayed me to their consultants. They wanted $3,000 to give me back my data in my opinion!
General Comments
Their firmware failed. The hard drives were still running. But, if anyone other than their techs open the case they void the warranty so you can't replace it it seems. They want an exorbitant amount to extract the data. So, I found a local company to retrieve the data. They charged me $600. And losing the replacement on the $500 Maxtor I still saved $1900 from the Maxtor/Seagate.
I went back and bought two Iomega 500 GB externals. Our IT guy will set them to do mirror back ups. No more Seagates!
