Free banking (well except for £5 per month if under £1000 deposited.
Good interest rate
Have to wait in long queues at Post office to pay cash in, or search for a branch with a machine to pay cheques in or trust the mail.
Not that easy to contact and deal with. Not good when problems occur and online service not that user friendly compared with others.
If you are after a good interest rate on your current account and low charges then I guess you can look at A&L.
If you want easy access and someone local to talk to, then look elsewhere.
If you want a company that is helpful, then look elsewhere.
If you are starting out HSBC do a cheaper account but with less interest and a good branch network (dont apply online to A&L (or you will get a MBNA credit card like it or not) or HSBC (as they loose your personal data in the internal mail).
