Lots of i/ps + o/ps,
Switchable Class A (25W) or A/B (95W).
Sound is irritatingly 'edgy'
Gets very hot
Very big
Bought the Marantz pm-7200 to replace my 2 decade old Technics Audio Amplifier so it shouldn't have had much competition but had to return the Marantz due to an irritatingly 'edgy' sound. This was particularly noticable on speech especially from the VCR (ie news etc) though spoiled music aswel. It seems that transients are falsely exaggerated perhaps to give the impression of detail but it doesn't work for me.
Other than this the sound is reasonable but still nothing to get excited about. The quality is what you might expect at the discounted price they go for but, in this case, you only get what you pay for.
It also gets worryingly hot, even in Class A/B, even though my ancient Technics sounds better, was cheaper, is older and has the same power o/p!
How this gets such rave reviews in the mags is a mystery. Not recommended.
