Rakim is the Michael Jordan of Rap and Eric B's mastery of the turntables makes Paid In Full the most cohesive and influential album the genre has arguably witnessed since Harlem and Brooklyn created Hip Hop!
The wealth, knowledge and skills of the past have been banished to the history books. If the hyped garbage that contaminates the airwaves was obliterated this 1987 masterpiece would rank up there with Hendrix, Lennon and Mr Tambourine Man himself.
In 1987 the world should have been exposed to a lyricist that led the next movement and defined the Urban generation. Unfortunately 16 years ago the Hip-Hop phenomenon had not gripped Caucasian Suburbia. The marketing tool was not its current force and as a result New York became the playground of two of its most prestigious sons, Eric B. & Rakim. Paid in Full has influenced every name to enter the game, many M.C's have tugged at superman Ra's cape but ultimately fallen short without fail every time. 'I know you got soul' can only be described as a verbal waterfall accompanied by Eric B's heavy and bass filled beat mixing a definite timeless track was born. From 'I aint no joke' until 'Extended Beat'finishes the listener will know they have just become part of something special, part of History. Lastly, purchase this album and become a Hip-Hop Junkee! "I hold the microphone like a grudge. B'll hold the record so the needle don't budge!"
