Good Points

Well made.

Bad Points

Clamp too big for even big scope. Switch lead too long.

General Comments

Bought for £50 from jsrambottom.com; the kit comprises a lamp with clip to attach to a rifle scope, detachable leads that goes to switch which is secured near your supporting hand with velcro, the second lead goes to a detachable 6v battery with in belt pouch. Mains charger supplied.

The clip was too big even for a 3-9 x 40 rifle scope causing the lamp to slowly work its way down the side of the scope, although this didn't affect the efficiency of the lamp, the ever-shifting weight did cause some problems in accuracy. I ended up carrying it as a handlamp.

The lead from the switch to the waist pouch was a good length (132cm) with enough to put the rifle carefully down. The lead from the lamp to the switch was long enough (50cm) to wrap a couple of times around the scope to try and keep it out of the way - it made me wonder quite what gun has a scope 50cm away from the shooters hands !

The charger runs at 12v and 6v, so care is needed to make sure you don't have an out of warranty accident with the first charge (because it arrived factory set at 12v). One point not in the manual is that the little green light on the charger goes out when the battery is fully charged.

Beam is adequate for all air rifle shooting (about 300m), but doesn't have the 'bunny blinding' ability of other million candlepower hand lamps that are out there.

Battery lasts about 30 mins constant use, and takes about 4 hours to recharge from flat.

The whole package would best be described as adequate.

50 pounds? Did that include the battery aswell? Ive seen them for 100 pounds! It also says that it can last for 1.30hours.

hmmmmmmm, the tracer from J S ramsbottom aint a tracer, or it is an older make. Sounds a bit dodgey to me, but I have seen a tracer mini and a Max pro which are ace. Sounds like the dealer is a bit dodgey if it sells it for 50 quid!!!
Don't hold me by that, J S Ramsbottom are a good distributor in most cases, not in this case though it seems........

The light offered by Ramsbottom is the older 6 volt model, thats why its so cheap. If u don\'t know any different the latest model is 12 volt. That\'s why the charging and battery life times look so odd in your review. Thats a good and honest review of the older model, but many of the problems were addressed on the latest model.

Hi mate i don't have one of these but you say that the scope mount is too big and doesn't keep the light in the right place. Try putting 1 or 2 pieces of tape inside the mount and then put it back on the scope, this should hold it in place!
    Good luck.
