For a place to go on a dry Saturday Dickens World was not too crowded. There may have been a reason for this.
So much potential but so little to see. Perhaps I've been spoilt by the likes of The Haunted House or the Pirates of the Caribbean in Disney World but the impact was underwhelming. Imagination cannot make up for so many dark places or lack of animation. The boat ride could have been so much better with more to see. The Haunted House was no more than a display case with one of the displays out of order. The two shows were adequate but I could not escape from the fact that the show in the large theatre seemed like a school production with the audience gathered around tables rather than properly seated.
So much money was spent on Dickensworld but so little has been delivered. There should have been greater use of animatronics. Although the staff were friendly enough, they did not seem too interested and appeared bored (as was I). The attraction was not very busy and I wonder how it would cope with a wet Bank Holiday. There is not enough to keep you amused for more than an hour or so once you've queued for the boat ride and "haunted" house.
