General Comments

My mother-in-law adopted a Border Collie puppy a few months after her previous dog passed away. She had been determined not to get another pet but fell in love with this puppy's personality straight away. He is a very clever, attentive animal who was easy to train and is very friendly to adults, children and other animals. However, he requires nearly constant attention and stimulation as he will get bored very easily. Presumably he will mellow a bit as he ages (he's just over a year old now), but he still gets very very hyper.

Apparently the Border Collie is one of the most clever breeds of dog. They do very well at learning tricks and work well in jobs. What this means is that the owner of a border collie has to make certain to keep the dog entertained and stimulated. While they're good with kids, they probably need an owner who has the time and energy to dedicate to his dog.
