“All the hard work of making this Mag jam packed with...”

Written on: 01/06/2008 by kbd20

Good Points
Well written and intelligent Magazine that's not just for kids.
Expansive Review and Preview sections.
Free gifts are more fun than the obligatory filler demos.
Very reasonably priced.

Bad Points
Lack of Demos means games must be bought/rented to try them (this does contribute to the low price, however).
Unlike the adult tone of the Mag, gifts are aimed squarely at kids.
Ridiculously high scores for average games.

General Comments
All the hard work of making this Mag jam packed with fun features is ultimately undone by the sickeningly generous final scores. The Mag has awarded games such as Mysims, Red Steel and My Horse and Me (!) with scores between 81% and 94% - despite these games scoring in the mid-sixties on Metacritic. By all means read this for an entertaining look at games present and future, but take the reviews and ignore them - then go and read Gamespot or Metacritic's review.

This month's issue also features a confusingly indulgent "Games we'd like to see on Wii...(but might not/probably never will)" section - complete with mocked up screens.
