General Comments

I was called abroad to Turkey for a family emergency
02 wrongly informed me that my monthly allowance was still active abroad

02 wrongly informed me that i would receive the best and cheapest call rates from abroad back to the UK
The Iphone that i purchased from 02 also had technical faults and needs to be returned

When abroad they also give you the option of choosing another network (as 02 does not operate in Turkey, but works in alliance with other networks) I chose Vodafone as I know they have excellent call rates from Turkey to the UK. 02 did not charge me by vodafone rates as they implied,instead decided to charge me by their own "CHEAP RATES" without informing me..so what really is the point of giving the option of another network?
After being in Turkey for just a WEEK i checked my bill online only to find that it was 418 POUNDS!

They also decided to try and wriggle out of the situation after i called the customer service line, saying that they deducted SOME calls from my monthly allowance...THE CALLS THAT LASTED LESS THAN 30 SECONDS!

TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, I PAID THREE HUNDRED POUNDS FOR THE IPHONE..EXCLUSIVE TO 02 PLUS A THIRTY FIVE POUNDS A MONTH CONTRACT FOR EIGHTEEN MONTHS

AND THE BEST PART? after explaining that i was on a family emergency and had already paid to extend my passport for 30days, that i have been a LOYAL 02 customer since they were BT CELLNET and could not afford to pay such a ridiculous amount they had the bare-faced CHEEK to tell me that if i refused to pay that they would send debt-collectors and they would charge me an additional FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS TO TERMINATE MY CONTRACT.

IN TOTAL THAT WOULD MEAN THAT 02 PLANNED TO CHARGE NEARLY 1000 POUNDS FROM ME AT A TIME WHEN A CLOSE RELATIVE IS IN BAD HEALTH AND I HAVE ALREADY PAID ENOUGH EXPENSE FOR THE TRIP ALONE AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TO HAVE THE ADDED STRESS OF SUCH A RIDICULOUS BILL!

This isnt the 1st time 02 has given wrong information and we have had past problems with them over-charging. I am not the only customer who has complaints about this issue and could refer you to many others in support to my claim.


I would much appreciate your help as i do plan to take it further if they continue in this absurd manner. They cannot continue to take ADVANTAGE of people, its shameful to see a company turned this way.

ANYONE WHO HAS HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH 02, AND WANTS TO HAVE THEIR SAY, YOUR FEEDBACK IS MOST WELCOME :)
