General Comments
I switched to Boots Opticians because I trusted the name and the prices were competitive. I have found their quality of testing and supply perfectly acceptable.
The problem I've had is with their lack of sufficient staff to be able to provide the sort of service I'd expect. They seem to employ fewer staff on weekends which are presumably more busy than week days so consequently are unable to offer weekend appointments at short notice even if you have an urgent eye problem you need attending to.
The reception staff I've found to be singularly unhelpful when calling about a supply problem (contact lenses failed to arrive in time - even though the care package includes spares I was told I'd have to buy some more) or when trying to arrange an urgent appointment.
I have found the optician in one branch (Reading) to be inexperienced but I suppose you have to start somewhere. At least she did call on her senior colleague for a second opinion.
My usual branch, at least while I am still a customer, is Camberley.
