Lifeguards let you decide if a kid is OK in the water. Free parking although you have to pay for lockers.
Bad Points
Burning hot pathways. Could do to be a few more shaded areas to sit.
General Comments
First time I've been to the normal water parks this year (been to Discovery Cove before and was impressed with it). Well impressed with the Disney ones. Typhoon Lagoon is all theme based with lots of hard landscaping giving a complete feel of an island lagoon. It is all set around a big lagoon with a wave machine pushing a single wave 5' high or so down it every few minutes. Have a four year old who loved it, he could body surf it for about 20 yards with a big grin on his face. The fish/shark pool was also a favourite, although the mask and snorkels you borrow didn't fit very well (mine because I have a beard and his because he's only 4 years old so it was a bit big) but they allow you to use your own if you want so with just goggles on we swam with the sharks, rays and quite a few others, if the kids can't float really well I would probably recommend putting one of the life jackets on to make it easier. Would probably go there before going into the rest of the pools as it is colder than the other water but still warm compared to swimming in the UK. We also went back again to cool off half way through the day. Sandals that you can swim in are an asset as the pavements and walkways get very, very hot quite soon in the day. Keelhaul falls and Mayday falls were good although you probably will have to help younger kids carry the inflatable rings up all the steps. They seemed to regulate the queue length down at the bottom by the number of rings available, you have to wait for them before you go up which means the queue at the top wasn't that bad. Gangplank falls had a massive queue every time we went passed so didn't manage to go on that. Bay slides were for younger children or children not confident in water 20' long into the main lagoon and you can wait at the bottom for them. Storm slides were good although a bit a a trek, the last bit the path gets feet burning hot but there's a bit of water at the top to cool feet off little one had to go three times on this so we could try all the lanes. Couldn't manage Humunga Kowabunga or Crush 'n' Gusher as little one is only 40" tall. Ketchakiddee Creek looked good but only got a quick (very quick once round) visit before little one wanted to get back to the bigger things so is probably ideal for babies and small children. The lazy river was ideal relax with most of it allowing some shade as you float round occasional traffic jam with all the rings but good to calm the kid down a bit. Seats and shade were at a premium with nothing left near the lagoon 15 minutes past opening but there was still quite a lot of seats and even some shade left around the Hideaway bay area. The lockers were on the small side 1 adult and 2 kids could just about get the stuff into a small locker but we needed a large locker for 2 adults and 1 child. There are lots of drinking fouintains everywhere, a tip someone told me is if you go for the free refills all day drink, there are only 7 tokens you get, one for each day of the week so if you go the same day the week after you can get free drinks again not 100% sure but seems quite logical. Lifeguards are everywhere but are relaxed about letting you decide if a kid is OK. Overall well done and well worth a visit can easily spend a day there without any sign of boredom.
