Its close to where I work
Overpriced
Not maintained properly
Hot tubs scummy
Showers cold
Outside pool not warm enough
etc etc
We've been members for 12 months now. I read the contract fully before we decided to join. We're fortunate enough to have had the money in the bank at the time we joined to pay the full 12 months in one payment thus getting a better contract than most others in respect that we dont have to give any notice to leave after 12 months unless I renew it just expires. At the time I also negotiated a vouchers for an extra month free.
Anyway, onto the club itself.
The problem I have with it is the way its promoted as upmarket. No way is this club upmarket, the only thing up market is the price. Things you miss on a quick tour of the facilities quickly become apparent when you are going every other day.
A bucket in reception catching rainwater from a leak somewhere for months.
Tatty carpet stuck down with duct tape in places
The lift up to the fitness arena has never worked to my knowledge. I did chuckle about this when I first joined, after all why a lift, why not use the stairs you are there to exercise. Then I though don't things have to be Handicap accessible?
Equipment sometimes taking weeks before being repaired. I would say there has not been a single week of our membership that at least 1 item had a " We're sorry for any inconvenience an engineer has been called" sign on it mmmmm or maybe not......
The sound system that you plug into on each machine, see the above comment, same problem.
Bad signal on the satellite channels.
Floor workout mats flat in places with no padding
Substandard instructors in some classes, especially stand in instructors in my opinion
Classes my wife was booked into have been cancelled with no notice. Drive 12.5 miles from home, get there for a 10am class on Sunday morning to be told at reception its cancelled. Not good. Perhaps someone at a premium health club should learn about customer service and how to use a phone
Onto the pool area now
The hot tubs should really be called luke warm tubs. On top of this the water in them is so filthy and over chlorinated that they really are not recommended at all. Unless you have some strange inclination to sit in a chemical bath
The steam room again isn't that hot, everything points to cost cutting.
Loose pavers on the pool deck, the water in the outside pool is not very warm and seems to have got even cooler over the last month or 2. There's a layer of slime on the tiles, its cleaned less frequently than steptoes teeth by the look of it.
The food in the restaurant is not very good, and overpriced. Used plates and cups etc from pervious customers seem to take too long to be moved. Staff more interested in chatting than working
Oh and we had gypsies on the carpark at one point. But that wasn't really Esporta's fault to be fair LOL
As you might have gathered I wont be renewing here , there are cheaper places that are as good. Ultimately customers vote with their feet don't they. Esporta are run by administrators at the moment, say no more.
