I thought I'd redress the balance a little, as previous reviewers have praised Facebook but I'm personally not impressed with it.
My biggest gripe with Facebook is those applications your friends try to share with you. You know the sort - you get a notification that you're being chased by a zombie, etc. I'm sure that's fun if you're 12, but I'm nearly 39... I'm astounded that so many of my 'intelligent' friends enjoy such silliness, to be honest. These applications quite often trick users into clicking on ads and giving away personal information. I don't trust them one bit.
MySpace, on the other hand - I love it. I love that I get random invitations every day from bands I wouldn't otherwise have heard about. I've discovered tons of brilliant new music this way. And if a man were to send me a friend request - which they wouldn't, because I'm an old lady now - I always have the option of flagging him up as a spammer.
Also, on MySpace, I get to have The Mighty Boosh and Russell Brand in my friends list... Facebook won't ever let you do things like that, because artists are not using it to promote themselves. Again, I've discovered all sorts of cool stuff by having artistes in my friends list at MySpace, such as forthcoming tours, start dates of new TV shows, etc. Excellent stuff.
I only ever log into Facebook now if I get an email saying there's a message from a friend there for me. Otherwise, I do not recommend Face book.
