General Comments

The Nescafe Gusto machine was brought for me as a present for my birthday. I'm a bit of a gadget freak so this was just a nice little extra - or so I thought.

I have to tell you now, if you buy one of these, be prepared to confine your filter coffee or espresso machine to the bottom of a cupboard somewhere because you will never use it again.

The machine came with some sample 'pods' and a couple of cups. Nice touch on the latte and cappuccino cups, very stylish and got the Mrs on-side straight away.

I couldn't quite figure out what the rinse attachment was for at first but when I'd sorted that out, I was away.

I made the mistake of thinking that each pod came with it's own milk/coffee mixture, like those awful things you get out of a machine in Kwik-fit whilst waiting for your tyres to be done! They don't, there's a milk pod and a coffee pod.

So, my first impressions of the coffeee - fantastic. Seriously, you will not believe how good the Latte is, if you like Starbucks and Costa etc., then I defy you to find any difference in the taste and quality.

Of course, that set me on a mission to try all of the varieties available, and I've done most of them (I can't bring myself to drink iced coffee yet - our American cousins are a weird bunch at the best of times but I think they've gone one step too far with that invention).

Try the hot chocolate, misleadingly called Chococinno (it's nothing to do with Cappuccino - try Mocha if you want a mixture of coffee and chocolate, there a pods for that too). The Chococinno is my personal favourite and is quite possibly the best hot chocolate I've ever tasted (and for you weightwatchers out there, according to my wife it's three and a half points a cup).

The machine makes a cup of coffee when you need it, rather than having to brew a whole pot. The black coffee tastes and smells like filter coffee so that won't let you down either.

The pods cost around £3 for a box, that's 16 cups of black coffee or espresso, or 8 cups if you want a milky style one like Latte.

I love my machine and will not go back to the filter coffee maker now.

My opinion - Buy one and you'll not look back.
