I stayed 11 consecutive weekends in 2008 with different companies at the Hotel "Clube Praia Da Rocha" Portimao Algarve Portugal, and there needs to be a complaint and a negative review made about this place, it should not be classed as a three star. To make it simple here is a list that follows. General service and welcoming was rude, effortless and quite unhelpful. The TV was (no previous mention or warning) extremely highly priced for a remote and said to have 29 channels of which it did not, some rooms had few some had many. We paid more per weekend to rent a remote than we did per night for two people. No oven was provided and such items like kettle and micro wave were to be the same as the TV remote...RENTED at a price!! Showers were old, none removable shower heads and disgustingly unclean baths. Bidet's were only fitted with cold water taps! NO double beds which is shocking in a complex of that size! For the size of the complex, access to parking was insufficient and inconvenient. Phones in rooms did not work, and rarely when did no phone cards could be used. And each apartment and veranda varied greatly in size so some people paid the same for much more or much less than others...unfair. Extra to pay per use of a sun lounger by the pool! Very early check out which was not necessary. Lighting of the rooms was very uncomfortable. No clean towels often. Corridors were very very noisy from as early as 8am - eg laundry carriers. A number of times we received these phone calls, however one time, we thought it was a sound from the film we were watching but the front desk was calling our room for OVER ten minutes as running baths in this hotel usually set off the fire alarm of your room, so they call to see if you're ok, after a second call or a second minute of the phone ringing you'd think they would send someone to the room, nope. And a three star that only provides to tiny bars of soap for your stay, nothing more. The water from the kitchen tap is undrinkable - not by fact by taste.
