Lovely location.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Excellent food.
20 minutes from Las Americas
Service occaisionally a little slow - but worth the wait!
When we decided to holiday in Tenerife after an absence of several years we did some research on the internet to find good places to eat. We were glad to see one or two of our favourites still going (notably Bistrot d'Alain) and to see mention of new places. Los Roques was one of them. However, thanks to a bad review we nearly didn't go, but ended up going with some friend that had been before. I'm so glad we went, it's now number 2 on my list of favourites in Tenerife (Alain being no. 1).
The food is innovative and tasty, beautifully presented. They've recently changed the menu, and it's amazing how different the dishes are, yet they still seem to carry on the 'flavour' of the restaurant.
They use local produce - such as organic lamb from a nearby farm (you can eat at the farm as well - wen there - it's not very comfy and they don't know how to cook the lamb!) and they even grow some of their own fruits and vegetables.
Sometimes if it's busy there's a bit of a wait between courses, but the restaurant is comfy (I don't mind waiting if the seats aren't hard), the food is worth the wait, and the view is fantastic. Plus the staff are very helpful, giving details of ingredients, suggestions on wine, and even recommending other restaurants based on where you're staying and what you like! Peter even drew us a couple of maps of how to get to some places!
The prices are higher than average but I think you get what you pay for. They're in line with other restaurants in Tenerife that do this kind of food (admittedly, there aren't many). You certainly couldn't get this kind of food at the same price in the UK.
The "Canarian Flavours" menu - a 5 course menu using only local ingredients - is a steal at 35'. There's a more expensive one at 55 'that we didn't try. We've eaten a-la-carte several times and spend between 80 and 140 euros depending on what dishes we eat and what we drink. Some things are cheap - soup, salad, pasta, fish - others more expensive - lobster and fillet steak.
Worth the 20 minutes drive if you're in Las Americas. If you're in Golf del Sur you really must go.
