- Have you made a claim?No
After years with previous insurer, I moved to sainsbury's as they were offering a fair premium for my 11 year old xbreed and their excess was £50 OR 15% which I thought was fairer than the £50 PLUS 35% at my old insurers.
However, I have only just received my renewal notice dated 15/5/08. They give 10 days to cancel but today (Sunday) is the 25th but their offices are closed on Sunday.
I wouldn't have to cancel if they hadn't increased the premiums by 140 percent!
I have emailed them using thier contact us but that says 3 days for reply!
Like many others I am saddened with this increase. Whilst the underwriters may be to blame, the broker is Sainsbury's so they have big say in this so I blame them just as much.
Despite my dog having an eye injury, I decided not to claim so only used their Customer Service when taking out the policy. So sainsburys have had a year of my money with no claim and now I am cancelling and going back to my old insurer who are offering a premium half of sainsburys even though my dog is a year older.
Whilst I accept that older dogs may need more veterinary care, none of these insurers take into account any no or low claims and it seems to me that Sainsbury's have welcomed older pet owners in the 1st year only to whack up the charges after that.
I am voting with my feet and will continue to do so if this happens again.
