Rugged, feels solid in the hand.
Very bright light.
Care and maintainace could be better explained.
Visiting this site a few hours ago I read a number of comments that were I identical to my own experience. I had put my own maglite aside as broken.
Subsequently, visiting maglite's official site to give a those people a piece of my mind, I learned the problems we had all been having were not problems at all. Maglites are deigned to stay at full brightness, rather than dimming as the batteries get low. The light flickers and eventually quiets altogether because the batteries can no longer provide enough current.
The site does give some other maintainace steps you can try, but in my case changing the batteries made the light as good as new.
