Great in the house, intelligent, loves kids. Good size for the car and the pub.
Very strong for a small dog. Can cause mayhem in the park.
My patterdale was very strong willed as a pup, but was easily trained. A firm hand is needed as they are tough and physically strong for such a small dog. This caused a few ructions when he was younger, but has now settled down and behaves very well indeed.
He is a lamb in the house, he's not a soppy dog but will come to you for affection when he wants it. Doesn't chew, scratch or dig, probably because he gets more exercise than he needs - he comes to work, fishing, cricket in fact everywhere. He is a great companion and I wouldn't be without him now.
He is very gentle with children.
They make great family pets.
