Easy to start - there is a routine to starting this saw. It's important to read manual. The decompresser really helps.
Power -excellent! Really good at getting through 18" plus trunks like butter.
Balance - although heavy it is offset by the balance and handle design. The weight became an asset rather than a hindrance.
Tooless Chain Tensioner - it works! But as with all new chains makes sure you run it in, checking tension regularly and making sure you have correct oil.
Not many!
The Tooless Chain Tension is made of plastic, so not sure how long it will last - time will tell. But it should be easy to replace
I made a point of reading through all the reviews before buying this Husqvarna 455 Rancher chain saw.
Even though this is my third saw, I made a point of reading the manual from cover to cover, which I believe paid off.
I have been using it now for two weeks without any problems. It hasn't thrown a chain once! It's reliable at starting, three pulls, it fires, choke off, pull again and away it goes! When warm, its first time, every time!
The decompressor works perfectly and is probably the main reason for its reliability in starting, although I have found it easy enough to start when warm without it!
So far I have cut up three whole trees - the only time I have had the chain stall is when I decided to cut length ways down a peice of trunk - this was hardly surprising.
It's well balanced, so I found the weight wasn't a problem, in fact I found this allowed me to use more effectively. It cut like it was going through butter when I used its weight.
The power was excellent - I had to make no effort in cutting. I just put the chain against the wood, and left the saw to it. It did all the work for me.
I think any buyer should bear in mind that this is not meant for all day professional work - it's for exactly what Husqvarna claims its for, the occasional bringing of trees down and chopping of larger wood for fires. In that respect its perfect for farmers and landowners who are doing a bit of cutting every few days.
I would certainly recommend one.
