Huge discount, great car, UK spec.
Delivery slipped a few times, took payment well before actual delivery.
Overall I'm very pleased with my car and smile about the price I paid. I wasn't happy about the delay but felt it wasn't too bad considering.
I've written a few reviews on this site and it seems that in the motor dealers section only those who are unhappy write. DC Cook claim to have sold 30,000 cars and there are 30 reviews so only 1 in 1000 has written on here.
I wonder if DC Cook to depend on main dealers so they receive a ready to deliver car and pass it on. They say it isn't easy getting cars from all over the place at the prices they sell them at so you get problems from time to time.
They seem to have an efficient set up that uses a minimum of formality and keeps costs down. They have about 100 second hand cars and new cars are sold through a telephone sales operation. These are passed to a logistics department who get the vehicles. There is a servicing area as well. I guess behind the scenes there are people negotiating the keen prices etc.
I ordered a Mondeo in January 2008 and was offered an estimated delivery of mid-April. I picked it up in mid-May which I think doesn't sound so bad in relation to the huge discount.
They did tell me it was going to be earlier than mid-April and took payment then. I wasn't pleased about paying it all and then having delays although they did offer to repay it.
Payment is due when the car is declared as being at the supplier and about to go onto tax, PDI etc. It is said that this will take at least 10 days from clearance of payment.
I found the staff fairly easy to contact, courteous and they did return most calls. On the other hand they gave me quite a few reasons for delays mainly based on the dealer had advised them the car was further up the chain than it was. It's difficult because you don't want to appear gullible and don't know what the end date might be. Although I always thought the car was getting slowly closer.
Suddenly it's there and I picked it up in Rotherham, it's about a mile and a half from the station. It was a quick pick-up process and it was easy to get to the motorway and home.
